Sen. Laura Fine was elected to represent Illinois' 9th Senate District in 2018 after serving as the state representative for the 17th District from 2013–2019. She is the vice chair of the Human Services Committee and serves as a member on the Appropriations, Environment and Conservation, Insurance, Local Government, and Public Health committees.
Fine has been a staunch advocate for public education on all levels and fights to ensure every child in the state has the resources they need to learn and thrive. A member of AFT, Fine was a political science instructor at Northeastern Illinois University, has worked in radio and television news, and served as the clerk of Northfield Township.
She lives in Glenview with her husband and their two sons.
